Why stay in Kolašin

In 2022 there was built a highway from Podgorica to Kalašin, which means that you can arrive at the airport and be at the ski resort within an hour. You can also get by train Bar – Belgrade. Kalašin is located at 954 m of altitude and offers excellent vacation as in winter as well as summer.

Because of altitude and favorable clime Kalašin is considered and air spa. In addition to winter sports, the place offers fishing in the Tara and rafting on this river. A special attraction for tourists represents the Lake Biograd located in National park Biogradska Gora which is one of three preserved virgin forest of Europe. The Lake Biograd is at 1094 m of altitude and around it there are walking paths. From Kolašin you can also start hikes through the Mrtvica Canyon.

In Kolašin you can also find the Vincek Botanical Garden, where an alpinist and botanist collected some rare plants from the Alps and the surrounding mountains. There is also a regional museum Zavicajni Muzej.

Kolašin Skiing

It is now the largest and most modern winter sports resort in Montenegro. The ski center includes stations Kolašin 1600 and Kolašin 1450. The mountains of Bjelasica and Sinjajevina are a great place for skiing. Some new facilities and elevators have also been installed, for example in Jezerin. For skiing and snowboarding, there are 45 km of slopes available. 7 lifts transport the guests. The winter sports area is situated between the elevations of 1420 and 2072 m.

Additional new lifts and a link with Jelovica are planned for the near future. Other mergers with Cmiljača and Žarski are planned over the next few years. This should ultimately create the largest ski resort in Southeast Europe with up to 250 kilometres of slopes.

National park Biogradska Gora

Pearl of European natural heritag – it’s one of only three virgin forests left in Europe and you can go hiking, biking, boating, fishing, horse riding, visit traditional katuns (shepherds’ huts) and go off-roading. Although all trails are well-marked, it is advisable to bring a guide, as the weather can change quickly. The valley around the idyllic Lake Biogradsko Lake was bequeathed to Prince Nikola in 1878 and is the oldest nature park in Europe.

There are 26 different habitats of plants with 220 different plants. 150 kinds of birds and 10 kinds of mammals live in this Park and in its forest there are 86 kinds of trees. In the waters of Park exist three kinds of trout and 350 kinds of insects. At the heart of the national park thrives a primeval forest of 1600 hectares, one of the most beautiful in Europe.

Biogradsko jezero

The central moment of the entire park by all means is Biogradsko jezero (Biogradsko lake) which on the surface of entire 230000 m2 is located at 1094 meters of height above the sea level, together with Jezerstica, the outpour tributary, making a water comples of exquisite beauty. The lake is 1100 m long and 410 m wide, with average depth of 4.5 meters, which makes it suitable for boat rides and enjoying fresh mountain air and incredible mountain reflections in emerald lake.

Mrtvica Canyon

Easy hiking in Mrtvica Canyon is suitable for everybody – great for any fitness level and skill levels. An 20 km hike in the shadow of Maganik Mountain takes you through one of Montenegro’s little-known but promising hiking destinations. True nature lovers fall in love with the mesmerizing sapphire pools, rapids, and crystal-clear waterfalls interspersed with rocky granite cliffs and lush forests.
