Why stay in Tivat

Tivat is not only an international airport, but also sandy beach Verige, beautiful islands and the Naval Heritage Collection museum. The municipality includes Porto Montenegro, the first the first ultra-modern deep-water marina in the Adriatic.

The youngest city in Boca Bay, first mentioned in documents from the 14th century. Buća House

The most interesting building for tourists in Tivat is the summer residence of the Buća family from Kotor, the only preserved Renaissance building in the city. According to the inscription on the prominent tower, construction began in 1548, and at the end of the 17th century it passed to the promising Luković family. Today the magnificent rest house houses the Naval Heritage Collection museum, a museum with a very valuable collection of more than 300 artifacts representing the rich maritime traditions of Tivat and its surroundings, while the large garden hosts cultural events.

In 2011, the port was taken over by the Canadian gold magnate and billionaire Peter Munk, who wanted to turn Tivat into the “Monaco of the southern Adriatic”. A few million later his vision came true and Porto Monagro became the first ultra-modern deep-water yacht harbor in the Adriatic. Meanwhile, luxury liners up to 150 meters long can anchor in the Bay of Kotor. Luxury apartments, boutiques, restaurants, bars, top hotels, a sports complex, a 64-meter landscape swimming pool, and an 18-hole golf course to make sure millionaire guests are not bored.

Islands in the Gulf of Tivat

Prevlaka Island or Ostrvo čljeva (Floral Island), famous for the remains of the monastery of an Orthodox monastery. The island is 300 m long and 200 m wide. It is connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus. Today on the island about a hundred people live in bungalows. The island has a monastery dedicated to Archangel Michael built in the early 13th century by Saint Sava, the medieval seat of the Metropolia of Montenegro. It was a tourist resort for Yugoslav military personnel, closed to the general public during the period of Socialist Yugoslavia. The island of Prevlaka has a magnificent beach about 1200 meters long, which stretches around the entire island. The beach consists of sand and pebbles and is surrounded by lush vegetation.

Luštica Peninsula

A peninsula of captains and quiet villages and no roads – sheep, goats and cows visit here more often than motorized vehicles, but there are plenty of tourists too. Those who want solitude – here you will find the long-awaited beautiful tranquility, and divers will enjoy the Galja shipwreck, which is located at a depth of 32. Speaking of excursion boats: if you are traveling by boat, you should not miss a detour to Žanjic beach . The fabulous bay with its cobalt blue water and brilliant white pebbles is not for nothing one of the most beautiful beaches in Montenegro. The blueness of the water in Žanica can be surpassed by the neighboring Plava Spilja (Blue Cave) can still be surpassed.
